The suppression of congregational teaching in France is proving burden* some to the Treasury,
M. Combes accepted an amendment in the Chamber of Deputies to spread the suppression over a period of ten years in the case of overburdened
communes.
The Chamber, by 282 to 271, despite M. Combes' opposition, made ten years general.
