PIGEON SHOOTING.

NEW ZEALANDERS AT SYDNEY.

Additional interest was lent to the anuual competition for the Pigeon Shooting Championship of New South Wales a few days ago by the fact that Victoria and New Zealand were represented. The latter Colony wad represented by Mr Harry Eccles, of Blenheim, and Mr C. H. Ohevannes, of Wanganui. There was a large attend ance at the New South Wales Club's grounds, and the weather was on the whole good—with gusts of wind at the later stages to liven up matters. The, conditions were—2l birds, 30yds rise,* three misses out. There was a compulsory sweep on tho ou1 come, which, together with a 10-guinea gold medal, went to the winner.

Twenty-seven entrants faced the traps; and Count de Neiva, who has baen in Australia for several monthsshooting consistently always—proved the winner, he being the only one to account for all his birds. Eccles failed in his seventh and tenth round; and Chevanne3 lost his bird in the eighth and a number -<jf successive rounds. The leading scores were:—Count de Neiva 2i, A. Brown and " Rox " 20, C. Massey, J. Clarke, Whitney, and Eccles 19, Chevannes and Vincent 15 (R). A. W. Eales shot 8 birds. Eccles was among the winners In the annual £100 Spring Handicap on the Hampden [shooting ground, where there were 56 nominations. At the seventh round fourteen agreed to divide up £70, and at the end of the thirteen round three agreed to cut up the remainder. Eccles (30yds) with 8 birds was tenth on the list of prize winners.
