THE ASHBURTON LIQUOR CASES.

DISMISSAL OF THE INFORMATIONS.

Press Association. Electric Telegraph Copyright. Abhbukton, September 18. The case against Dineen, lessee of the railway refreshment rooms, for the alleged sale of liquor on the. sth inst., and with keeping liquor for sale, was heard before Mr Wray, S.M., to-day, j The Magistrate, in dismissing both informations, said there was no direct evidence that a sale had taken place, ■ and that the stock which was found on the premises, and whioh was the remains of the stock in hand when the license was taken away on June 30th, was not of a kind likely to be kept for sly grog selling. The whisky looked suspicious, but defendant appeared to have plenty of friends, and that was evidently why he kept it on the premises. ''. I also think something should be done by the authorities towards the prevention of liquor going into premises of this sort."
