AN ENGLISH BY-ELECTION
Press Asiociation. Electric Telegrapi Copyright. ■ Received September 19, 7.45 a.m. London, September 18. A by-election was necessitated at St. Andrews owing to the sitting member, Mr H. T. Anatruther, Unionist, being appointed to the Suez Canal Commission. Captain Ellice, Liberal, was elected by a majority of 36, defeating Major Anstruther Thompson, Conservative.
