HEAVY SNOW IN THE SOUTH.

Timaru, July 15. A train frozen in at Cricklewood last night was brought back to Timaru minus the engine, which stuck fast in frozen snow. Another try will be made to-night to pull it out.

A report from the Mackenzie country says there is three feet of snow on the plain. The fall is one of the heaviest on record.
