THIRD ANNUAL MEETING.
The weather made a handsome amend after compelling the Wairau Trotting Club to vacate the Rivcrlands course, and with a clear sun overhead the gathering oh Djr^lnnes'B- ground at Redwoodtqwn* todaywas an enjoyable one. The attendance .was good. Maiden Handicap, of 12 soys, second horse 1 soys from the stakes; one mile. ■ 3| M. M^her's Mntiny, l&eo, (J. Johnston) ... ... ... 1 1£ F. Barnes's Marathon, 13sec, (B. Gillett)... ... ... 2 5J Dr. Noonan's Sidney 11., 12aee, (W.JE. Green) ... ... 3 The other starters were; (2£) Harrowtine scr, (6) Greyhound scr, (3|) Ayrshire Lad ssecSj (13) Sleevelink llsec, (0) Playmate 13sec. Welcome Mary and Protector were scratched. Won easily by. a couple of lengths. Time, 3min. 22sec. Totalisator,, £35 10s. Dividends, £3 8s and £2 13s. Steward's Handicap,: of 20 soys, second horse 3 soys from the stakes ;1J miles. * 5i F. W. Martin's Rimn, 30sec, (G. Murfltt) ... ... 1 15J W E. Green's Merry, 20sec, (Owner) .. ... ... 1 24£ C. Berry's Pirate Queen, 21sec, (Owner) ... ... ... 3 The other starters were : Maher's (12) Czarina scr, Lane's (2^) Maybud 12seo, Fowler's (li|) Minx 20sec, and Augast.s (10) Sleevelink. Dan D, and Black Rose worn scratched*. Merry made the race an interesting one with a fine challenge on Rimu's lead in the last round. Making up a lot of distance Merry rapidly drew up and lost the race only by a head. Time, 4min 35£seo. Totalisator £67. Dividends, £4 Is and 14s.

All started, the rest of the field being: August's (11) Perewiti scr., Maher's (8|) Czarina 12secs, Murfit's (42) Cob 25secs, Berry's (12) Juanita 32seos, Parson's (11|) Scotia 42seos, Bore's (10J) Welcome Mary 50aecs. Merry, who maintained a good position all the way, won by some lengths, the third horse a similar distance from the second. Time,"smin 21 3 sth sec. Totalisator, £162 10s. Dividends, £2 Us and £1 9s.
