The trial of Thomas Ramsay and John Cairns for assaulting Thomas Reid and robbing him of £201 which he was .taking in the afternoon to pay the employe* in Sargood Son and Ewen's boot; factory was concluded today. The jury, affcer three quarters of an hour retirement, returned a verdict of guilty. Each prisoner protested his innocence. They were sentenced fco 12 years' imprisonment. Ramsay said he wished to appeal against the sentence. His Honor said he should take such steps as he was advised.
