MANY CASUALTIES.
THE SYMPATHY OF THE KING.
Received June 20,1 a.m. London, June 19. The explosion at Woolwich is attributed to grit during the process of removing the stack forming the cavity for the exploder. The King sent a message of sympathy to the relatives of the deceased and injured sufferers. The War Office report states that out of 30 ten-inch lyddite shells filled over night seven are missing. The force of the explosion threw many of the shells to a distance without exploding them. The lyddite in melting pots in the adjoining building did not explode. Many victims some distance from the building received wounds. Other accounts state that the miss* ing shells were recovered. Several of them demolished walls at a distanoe, killing and injuring people. None of them were fitted with exploders.
