TRADES UNION OPPOSITION.
Received June 19, 9.30 a.m. London, June 18.
The Parliamentary Committee of the Trades' Unien Congress unanimously resolved to urge workers to oppose Mr Chamberlain's scheme.
The Daily Express states that Mr Chamberlain ascertained that 80 per cent, of Midland manufacturers support him.
Mr Hobson, Acting Agent-General for Victoria, in correcting Sir A. Deakin's declaration that Federal State Governments approved of Mr Chamberlain's proposals, states that Mr Deakin's was merely a personal estimate of Australian sentiment. The Victorian Government had not expressed an opinion.
