AN ELEPHANT'S CARCASE.
Later news by the last Frisco Mail convey the following possible '. explanation of the marine monster referred to abovo : —
Jingo, the famous Zoo elephant, who was recently purchased for Bostock's menagerie, only to die on the voyage across the Atlantic, has been figuring as a sea eerpent. When he died he was thrown overboard and was afterwards sighted by mariners. The crew of one vessel reported that at 6 80 one morning through the cold grey mist they had seen a great monster, with waving giant limbs and a yawning chasm of a mouth, bearing down on them on the starboard bow.
