CHAMBER OF AGRICULTURE
A ROUGH SEA VOYAGE.

A Chamber of Agriculture has been formed with the objoct of .protecting the general interests o? producers •of the State. A strong and representative Council has been appointed.
The Pacific Cable Company's new steamer, Iris, intended for cable work in the Pacific, has arrived. It had a severe handling ia a cyclone crossing the Sonthern Ocean, which the Oruba experienced. She came through with slight damage. The captain tried filling the forward houses with oil-soaked oakum, this percolating over the sides and helping to calm the seas. She brings four hundred miles of deep sea cable.
