That Mrs W. S. Gregg, of Mahakipawa, must have been preeminently successful in obtaining trophies for the last Mahakipawa Boxing Day Sports is endorsed by the fact that the residents of that district appear to have been competing for them on all occasions until Txiesday last, when the list was expended at a sports gathering in Mr Cullen's home paddocks. The officials (Messrs W. S. Gregg, hon. Secretary; J. Climo, starter; J. Young, handicapper ; J. Cody, timekeeper) managed tho arrangements for a successful day's sport in a brisk manner, and tho heartiest of good feeling wag observable. Following are the results:— 100 yds Handicap.—E. Ncal, 4 yds, 1 ; A. Wratfc, scr, 2 ;J. Young, 4yds, 3 Five entries Won by a foot, Throwing the Hammer.—J. Younw 1 J. Wells 2, A. Wratt 3. Five entries.' 220 yds Handicap.—E.. Noal, scr, 1 • W. Noal, 9yds, 2 ; W. Coleman, 3yds! 3. Four starters. All finished in a bunch. Girls, pyer 15 years.—Ella Neal 1. Five entries. Half Mile Handicap.—W. Ncal scr I; E. Neal, 6yds, 2; W. were leading for the gre.vter part of the distance, but fell owing to their tie coming uudone. Boy's Races were won by W. Thompson and D. Patterson, and Girls' by M. Clirno andEMo Gregg.

In the evening a dance was held in the Royal Alberb Hall, Miss Thomas supplying the music, and at which songs were rendered during intervals in the programme. In presenting the trophies to successful competitors, Mr Gregg referred to the generosity that had been displayed by donors, who were accorded cheers in recognition, and an enjoyable day was concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem.
