Wanganui, March 3.

Training operations were watched eagerly this morning for the Wanganui J.C. Meeting, there being a large number of horses and good gal!op3.

St. Lyra ran a mile in lmin. 49sec. by herself; Mars and Oingo covering the same distance in lmin 48 2-ssec, the Cup horse shaping best. West Guard did six furlongs in lmin 17 l-sth sec, moving splendidly. Shrapnel! Shell and Hately ran the same distance ia lmin 211 ssec; the former galloped rather short. Advance galloped comfortably twice round by himself, the last mile in lmin 54sec. Shrapnel! ran six furlongs in good style in lmin 18 2-ssec, Queen's Guard taking a second longer. Halberdier did twice round the plough pleasingly at three-quarter pace. Orloff and Machine Gun were restricted to light work; both are very fit. Fakir and Sunfish ooyered a mile in lmin 48 l-ssec, the best gallop of the morning, the Cup horse finishing first, apparently on sufferance.
