RENWICK NOTES.

(from our own correspondent.) A very enthusiastic meeting was held this week, Mr W. Tapp in the chair, to make arrangements for the holding of the annual children's and people's picnic. The date was fixed as Wednesday next, February 25th, and the site, Mr W. Fleming's paddock, where so many enjoyable outings have been held by young and old. A strong working committee was formed with Mr John Bary.as secretary* . Given a fineday, success is assured. The first of a series of autumn stock sales will be held by Messrs Green & Co. next Tuesday in the Sen wick syndicate's yards. As the situation is so' central, these sales should prove thoroughly satisfactory to all surround ing farmers. Mr J. D. Webster, who has laboured as assistant to the Rev. W. O. Robb during the last three years, has re ceived notice of his transfer to Inglewood, Taranaki. Resolutions were passed by. the Renwick Presbyterian Church Committee on Tuesday night expressing great appreciation of Mr Webster's ministerial work in our midst, and wishing him continued health.and prosperity in the future. Mr Spiers, of Inglewood, his successor, assumes charge on April Ist next.

To raise funds to make additions to the school library and to defray the cost of prizes, a cone; rt is to be held in the Oddfellow's Hall, Renwick, early next month. The co-operation of the MarlTsorough Orchestral Society and of several leading vocalists has already been secured, and Mr D. E. Leslie, who has the matter in hand, assures me that the programme will be an excellent one.
