The body of the suicide has been identified as that of George Mclndoe, farmer, of Waituna. It is believed deceased made a similar attempt on his life at Palmerston a few years ago. John Watt, aged 73, a resident of Goodwood, died suddenly yesterday. Wellington, January 16. An inquest was held to-day on the body of John Taylor Gordon, a tourist aged 32 years, who died at the Occidental Hotel on Wednesday. The evidence showed that deceased was a
hopeless dipsomaniac. He had been sent out from England by his Mends _ih the hope that travel would cure him of the disease. He had admitted to Ms medical man that he had taken large quantities of alcohol unknown to his friends. Twenty-four empty whisky bottles were found in his bedroom. A ve?dict of death from acute alcoholism
was returned, with a rider that no
blame was attachable to the licensee of the hotel where the death occurred.
