Snow fell in the city for a few minutes this morning, followed by a heavy hail storm. The Rimutakas have a heavy mantle of snow.

Palmerston N., October 19.

A heavy'gale has been blowing here since yesterday afternoon with hail and heavy rain, and there is still no sign of 1b abating.

Ashborton, October 18. The weather is bitterly cold, with snow and a sleety rain.

Christohurch, October 18.

During the afternoon heavy hail fell and there was a fall of snow. The hills are covered. In consequenco of the bad weather all cricket was postponed.
