Wellington, September 29. A deputation, consisting of the officers and men of returned contingents anxious to settle ©n tho land, waited on the Minister©f Lands to day to urge that something should be done to enable" them to carry out their wishes in this direction. Special in ducements which are held out to settlers in South Africa wore brought under the notice of the Minister, who was asked to do something at once.
The Hon Mr Duncan said that the question was too involved to answer at once, but he would give a reply early next week.
