THE THOROUGHBRED HORSE HILLSTONE. TTTILLSTONE being wellknown in JLJL the district it is therefore unnecessary to describe him here. The public, however, are reminded that he had a very successful career on the turf, as he won over a score of races, and ran into a place times out of number. The above wins, without mentioning the numerous times he had been placed (under equal or heavier weights), tends to prove his usefulness as a sire to breek hacks and other useful horses, as well as racers* For pedigree see cards. THE THOROUGHBRED STALLION KING'S OWN (King Cole-Contessa, full brother to Hillstone) WILL stand this season at Renwick town, and at the Club Stables, Blenheim, and travel the district where inducement is offered. From his pedigree it can be seen that King's Own has the most classical strains of blood running through his veins. Contessa produced those good horses Princess Cole and Hillstone, both being full brother and sister to King's Own. His sire, King Cole, was a great horse of his day, having won in England the Ascot Derby, Palace Stakes, and the Cumberland Plate; in the latter event defeating the Derby winner, King Craft, at weight for age. Nelson, by King Cole, was one of the best performers ever seen in Now Zealand. The celebrated horse Myall King, by King Cole, won the Viceroy Cup three times in sue cession. • King's Own himself has won many races. He is a big horse, with plenty of bone, and should prove a useful sire. Fee: £3 for single mare A reduction for two or more belonging to the same owner. Groomage fee, ss.
