Oamartj, August 15. Mrs Shields, of Port Chalmers, who was fonnd in an unconscious state in a carriage of the express train yesterday afternoon, and removed to the hospital, died at 10 o'clock last night, without regaining consciousness. She had been in bad health for some three months, and was proceeding to friends in Can terbnry, accompanied by two small children, for a change.
CUHISTCHURCU, August 15
Samuel Williams, married, aged 30, was working in a new sewer at Chester Street tills morning, when a fall oF earth killed him instantaneously.
A man named John Hogan, working a yard away, was also pinned by the fall, but escaped with slight injury.
Wellington, August 15. Mr S. Palmer, of this city, dropped dead on a tram car to-day.
