The Right Hon. B. J. Seddon presented Baden-Powell's mother, at the General's request, with a magnificent solid gold salver subscribed for by the public service of New Zealand in recognition of his defence of Mafeking. Mr Seddon eulogised the General, and expressed himself confident that he would preserve law and order in South Africa. Mrs and Miss Seddon were present. Mrs Baden-Powell expressed her warmest thanks and admiration of the gift.
