THE POLL.

The poll will be taken to morrow, opening at nine o'olook, and closing at six. Ratepayers would do well to remember that abstention from voting is equivalent to a vote against the proposal ; and a majority of ratepayers on the roll and also a majority of exercisable voteafare required to carry the proposal. There are about 550 ratepayers on the roll, and a proportion of these will, of course, be unable to attend the poll. There are a number of deceased persons' names on the roll; and, according to a legal opinion received by the Committee from the Board's solicitor, the " non-attendance " of deceased persons at a poll does not count against the proposal.
