ARTESIAN WELLS.
MAXIM GUNS FOR ADELAIDE. Received May 9, noon. May 9. Enormous artesian wells have been struck near Walgett, yielding five million gallons daily. They are the largest yet found m the Colony. The Premier says that the statement by the Minister of Agriculture, to the effect that Government would assist Mildura as long as necessaiy, was not warranted. The Government will, he adds, give temporary relief until the commission submits its report. Adelaide, May 9. The Government have decided to immediately order si* Maxim guns.
