WRECK OF A VESSEL.
♦ NARROW ESCAPE OF A CREW. [tJSITED rBKBB ASSOCIATION ] Gisborne, May 23. I A heavy gale has been raging for the last 24 hours. The schooner Spray, from Mercury Bay, drifted into the surf, and the crew were m a dangerous position. y An attempt to float a line ashore failed, but a young man named Frederick Founds swam off with a line, by means of which all were landed. The cook got entangled, and was only rescued after great difficulty, being insensible. The vessel is not expected to get off.
