The Premier has wired to the other colonies, urging the necessity of joint action m bringing pressure to bear on the Imperial authorities for a subsidy to the Pacific cable, and also the advisableness for an early meeting m London of the Commission representing the Imperial Government and colonies, to discuss a suitable plan of co-operation. London, May 22. Fanning Island has been selected as a station at which the proposed Pacific cable should touch.
