WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.

♦ The monthly matting of the Wairan Road Board was held yesterday, all the numbers being present. THE FBIKB CONTRACT. Mr Diamante waited en the Beard with regard to his contract for forming a traok from the Forks, Wakamarina, to the Onamalutu, and was requested to state in writing hii intention as to ita completion. The Secretary was direoted to comrnuaioate with the Mines Department on receipt of Mr Diamente'i letter. TYNTKSFIELD. Mr G. T. Seymour interviewed the Board in respeot to a road through Tyatesfield that required surveying. Mr Seymour was requested to make his application in writing, and it was resolved that the power of the Board in the matter be esquired into on receipt of the letter. BOCK FERRY. Messrs Smart and Foster wrote in referenoe to Mr Barton's oentraot at Rook Fen j, and it was -resolved to instraot the latter that the information was not satisfactory to the Board. The Inspector was authorised to da the following werks : — The preparation ef planß and specifications fer repairing the read frem Leafield to the top of Pyramid Saddle; to repair the Benaopai and Summerlaads read, and remove slips at aoest set exceeding £10 ; to repair the Langley Dal*— Rock Ferry Band at a cost not exceeding £15, and to place a plank with a handrail across Godfrey's Greek in lieu of the present bridge; t» iepert upon the state of the culvert near Graham's, on the Renwiok New Road. BATE. It was resolved that the rate for the eneuing year ihenld be §d in the £. THE WAIHOPAI BSIBOB. A letter was received from the Undersecretary of Public Works covering an agreement re the £1000 grant is aid of the Waihopai bridge, and it was resolved that Bach agreement be signed by the Chairman. The following resolution was also passed : " That a apscial order be made adopting the provisions of the Local Bodies Act 1886, and that the same shall be in force in the Wairan Rasd district after the date of the gazetting of the reßelution." After the Gazette notice baa been published, a notioe •f the Board's proposal to raise a. loan of £933 to aid the fund for the erection of the bridge (which is estimated to cost £2400) will be published in a looal newspaper, and a meeting of ratepayers in eaoh district will be called in accordance witk the Act. The Secretary reported that Messrs Monro, Bioaardson and Carter were the retiring members for the year, and that nominations were due during the last week in April, That cenoluded the business.
