Some sensational evidence was given to* day during the hearing of a libel aotiei broaght by the joekey Hayes agaiast the Australasian. The plaintiff claimed £5000 damages. The evidence of Tom Payton, horse trainer, showed that last year Hayes w»s guilty of foul ridiag, and besides preventing a horse winaiag ka andaagered tha life of aaotker jgekey by orashing his moant oa to the rails. Huxley, the well knowa joekey gave corroborative evidence. One of the witnesses who awned a racehorse disolosed an arrangement entered into with Hayes to pull a oertain horse, but admitted Hayes raioed him by Using the race.
