The foundation stone of the new Oddfellows Hall was laid this afternoon by Mayor Trask- Amongst the speakers was ihee Hon. R. Seddon, who had just arrived from Wellington. He spoke highly of the principles and objects of the Friendly Societies, and stress was laid on his atterance that the Government would allow no legislation that had for its object an injurious effect on the present Friendly Societies.
