White, Superintendent Collector, some of last year's figures. The holdings are the same m number, but the land broken up and not under crop has advanced from 2640 to 4094 ; wheat acreage has fallen from 6462 to 5417 ; oats show a slight increase, the figures being 4711 and 4877 acres respectively; barley falls from 3962 acres to 3346 ; potatoes have been m favor, and there were 1382 acres this year as against. 1087, Marlborough Coua- j. showing an increase from 888 acres, with an estimated product of 6572 tons, to 1162, acres with 9899 tons; the area under crop exclusive of grasses has fallen from 23,449 • acres to 22,803; sown grassed area (broken up) decreased from 50,243 acres to 49,584, but the area m grass not previously ploughed has increased from 112,676 to 123,708 acrss ; the produce of cocksfoot seed has gone up from 1543 bushels to 2157, -but rye-grass seed falls from 4908 bushels to 2778 bushels.
