<. _ - A TIMELY RESCUE OF CAVALRY. (.UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.! New York, January 2. Advices from districts threatened by Indians state that the 7th regiment of cavalry wa3 surrounded m a valley near Clay Creek by a greatly superior force, and the 9th regiment of cavalry arrived just m time to rescue them. The United States Government hope to aeduce 3000 Indians at Badlands to a peaceable surrender. Twelve regiments of infantry are now investing the disturbed districts.
