FOOTBALL PRESENTATION.

. . ./AAA 'X, '' ;',' ;■» L^Ll- '.' V'L The trophies won by the various Football Clubs during the. past season -were presented last-, evening at Priddle's Grosvenor Hotel. Mr H. Dodron, M.H.R., presided and tliere was a good attendance of footballers. The Chairman m opening the' proceedings assured the meeting of his undiminished interest m the game. 'They were met to present the trophies that various ' Qlubahadwon, but before they proceeded tb that business, a very pleasing duty d?. vblved'upon him' viz: to present Mr Franfc'Shaw with an address and s a purse of sovereigns, m recognition of his strenuOuSefforts to bringabout the formation of a secbiid club,' and to form the Union, whose : very existence was m a great measure due 'to Mr Shaw. (Applause.) He would ask .that gentleman to the accompanyuig of sovereigns as well as the following address :— ■ " To-Fbank- Shaw, . Esq.— This testi-monial,-with the accompanying purse of soyereigns, is presented to you as a slight recognition of your services to the Marlborough Rugby Union, the secretaryship of Which you recently resigned It was principally owing to yOar exertions that tins Union was formed, and'dqnng the timesyoii occupied office, jrou have always shown a conscientious Idesire to Ic&rry.outi the; duties appertaining. to the position, and have been, successful m, bringing ttie Union into its present favorable state.
