BRITISH AND FOREIGN.
(By Electric Telegraph, Copyright.) HOME RULE FOB SCOTLAND. THE TURF SCANDAL. THE FEDERATION LEAGUE. (united pbess association.) London, June 24. At a large meeting on the site of the Battle of Bannockburn, attended by 10,000 people, resolutions were passed demanding Home Rule for Scotland. Professor Blackie addressed the meeting, and his remarks were received with great enthusiasm. Major Egerton, in giving evidence before the Jockey Club, asserted that he had suggested to Mr Weatherby, the propriety of making enquiry into Fullerton's running. He declared that seven jockeys formed a ring, and four are still riding. A summons issued against Lord Mandeville by the Public Prosecutor, on a charge of fraud, has been dismissed. Lord Herschell, at a dinner of the Federation League, said the unique feature of the Empire was absolute incorruptability of Crown officials. He opposed Tupper's proposal, for a Convention. The League was doing great work in destroying traditions of the old school which were opposed to retention of colonies.
