CONFERENCE ON IRTSH AFFAIRS. » (SPECIAL TO UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. ) London, Dec 8. Fifteen hundred leading Unionists attended the Conference upon Irish affairs. Lords Derby and Selborne, Mr Gosohen and Sir George Trevelyan spoke m support of Lord Hartingtou. Mr Chamberlain wired that there could be no re-union of the Liberal Party until the polioy pursued by Mr Gladstone was abandoned. Mr Bright wrote that there was no hope of a moderate policy fiorn Mr Gladstone. Lord Hartington denied that there was any sympathy between the English democracy and the Anarchist polioy of the Land League. The press declares that the Conference will greatly encourage Government m the position it has taken up with regard to Ireland.
