London, July 9, Up to' the present 714.000 ayes arid 77G.000 noes have been recorded for and against Mr Gladstone m constituencies which at the general election m November last had given him a majority of 73,000 votes. Mr Gladstone denies a statement made to the effect that he had received suggestions from Irish Americans regarding his Home Rule proposal. Sir John Lubbock (London University), the Eight Hon. The latest returns are ns follows:—Conservatives 290, Union ists G2, Gladstonites 149, and Parnollites 72. The Marquis of Hartington was re-elected for Rcsseudale (Lanca*luirc); Leonard Conrtnoy, re elected for Bodmin ; Mr G. 0. Trcvelyan, who m March last resigned the offico of Secretary for Scotland m tho Gladstone Government, has been defeated for Hawick by a Gladstonito candidate ; Joseph Arch, tho labor candidates, and Timothy Healy, Nationalist, have been defeated for Northern Norfolk and Londonderry respectively. Conservative, candidates have been elected for Liberal seats m Har* borough ( Leicestershire), Stowmarket (Snffolk), Ripon (Yorkshire), Gainsborough (Lincolnshire), Northwest Staffordshire, Hyde (Cheshire), Roraford (Essex), Ponrith (Cumberland), and Biggleawade (Bedfordshire), Gladstonite candidates secured former Liberal seats for Osgoldcross (Yorkshire), and Cardigan.
