THE ARTHUR-STREET DITCH.

[TO TIIB EDITOR OF THB EXPEESS.] Sir,— lt is quite absurd your arguing that I opposed the filling up of the Arthur-street ditch. Every member of the Borough Council, and anybody else who may have given any attention to the subject, knows that the only and sole reaaoa why I agreed with the proposal to make a drain across the Bank section was that the water which runs down the Arthur-street ditch might be taken to the Omaka by a shorter course, m order that the mile of ditches now open m Arthur and other streets, might all be filled up and the roadways made good. What I opposed was not the filling up of the ditch, but Mr Douslin'a proposal to bury £2000 worth of brick work m the street before he filled it up. Tou certainly wrongfully accuse me of " quibbling," for my actions and words m this case have been straight, direct, and plump to the point on all occasions. — I am, etc., Geo. Henderson.
