Sib,— l hear my friends are making beta m this case, and I fear they will win their, money and "3poil tho Egyptians." But I must be once more moon Bistent'as tho interests of a valuable local institution are involved, and I intend to give every facility to Mr Seymour and his friends to prove their case. , The position is this :— I have tried to find out from Government records— from Ministers — at public meetings, and m many other ways, .. if any -promise really had been nude, and if so what promise, but up to this time have failed m my efforts. Having obtained a promise that the district should have tho mony if I oan prove that it y*s ever promised to it, and having been taunted m publlo prints that I have lost the yoto, I have deter-

opponents bava : any promise, they have '"•"most strenuously kept It from me, and, by to doing, have deprived the district of £300.

I now sgain call upon Mr Seymour to prove his case, and on my part I will help him all mmy power. If we can establish the promise we shall have arrived at this satisftotory position : the Government wiil give £300 ; my century added will make £400 ; : this is sufficient to buy the

much needed fnfoitnrefor the new hospital.
