' 'Gas.'— At the meeting of the Blenheim Borough Council, Mr Hutcbesrm, C. E., the gas contractor to the Council, expressed his intentions m regard to the proposed Blenheim 6as' Suj),>!y, promising their completion within the time stipulated. Cabvino Extraorpjnart. — We had the pleasure yesterday of inspecting a handsome of carved objects, the work of Mr Ah Gee, of Blenheim. Of Mr Ah Gee's skill with liia chisel there can be no two opinions m tha district, nor, m fact, from anyone competent to judge of artistic skill. The collection of carvings to which we have alluded comprise many objects on a scale that we have not seen attempted previously m this Colony, excepting at Mr Larnacb's residence, near Port CLalmers, designated Larnach's Folly, It comprises carvings of the Mongarewa ami Manawatu Gorges, the Great Eastern, Picton. and harbor, a. forest m the • Papakufa District, Auckland, Rotomaliana,. Wanganui and river, Mswsacre Hill, and various other places and objects, admirably executed. As we understand it is the intention of the artist to exhibit these specimens of his skill iv Blenheim within a . few days, prior to his departure with them on a tour of the Colony, we shall confine our present remarks to the mere enumeration we have given above.
