THE IRISH SITUATION. THE ARREST OF MICHAEL DAVITT. SERIOUS ENCOUNTER AT KILKEELY. (Per 'Frisco Mail.) Dublin, February 9. Michael.Daviltt Laud League agitator, was arrested oil 3rd of February, under his ticket of-leave, and taken to the Millbank Penitentary, and immediately clothed as a convict The arrest was made m Dublin, and the cause assigned was that he had not reported himself to the police. Mr Egan, Brenuan, and Dillon tried to see him, but were refused, The doctor advised Da-ritt to go to the hospital as soon as he arrived m prison, as he was threatened with lung disease. He has since been conveyed to the Poitlaud convict prison, but it is not expected that he will be detained after older has been restored iti Ireland. It is baid that the real cause of Davitt's arrest was his connection with the new movement leading to the employment of physical force m solving the Irish question. At a meeting of the Land League Diilon urged the continuance of agitation, even after the passage of the Coercion Bill, and advised tenants to resist landlords m every way short of physical force, for which they were prepared. A resolution was passed declaring that, m view ■ I 'he importance of securing the sympathy ut America, and of the Irish m America, Parnell should be requested £o proceed to that country immediately, iirennan will also go to America. Walsh goes to Australia. It is stated that the holding of a national convention m Dublin will be prohibited. Dillon advised its postponement till Parnell, Davitt, ?.nd Brennan can be present. Patrick Egan, treasurer of the Land League, has the League funds m Paris, to avoid any possible confiscation, now the Coercion Bill has passed. He sends strong appeals to America for material aid. Orders have been given to treat Davitt during his imprisonment with all possible indulgence. He occupies a separate ruuui, well furnished, and is kept apart from other convicts. He will not be subject to the ordinary prison labor, but must wear the convict dress. The Home Secretary says there was grave and just cause for cancelling Davitt's ticket-of- leave, but it is not desirable to state the reasons. Davitt is m ipod health, and satisfied with the arraugrnumts made for him at Portland. Arthur O'Connor, Home Rule member denounces the published statement to the effect that the Irish members of the House received an allowance from the Land League fund, as an atrocious calumny. The Home Rulers have decided to carry agitation against the Coercion Act into the gieas towns of England and Scotland. A murder, growing out of the laud disputes, is reported at Derry Lee, and a serious encounter with the police had taken place at Kilkeely ; also afc Bally Hairuis, The mob stormod the police, and were charged at the point of the bayonet. .New Advertisements, wanted.
