Classification of Teachers. —The examination for classification of teachers was proceeding to-day in the Government Buildings.

Native Game Season. —The season in which native game may be killed is proclaimed by the Governor as being from March 29, until July 31, both days inclusive. Native game is specified in the Gazelle notice to mean;—Wild duck, of any species, bittern, pied stilt plover, wi’d geese, dotterell, native pigeon, teal, black stilt plover, curlew, and qua s !. ,• j-.- -„; Zymotic Diseases. —The mortality from these diseases was somewhat greater in February than in January ; the deaths having been 54 in February against 50 in January. Of the 41 deaths from these two complaints, 18 occurred in Christchurch and 20 in Wellington, of which 25 were of children under one year, viz., 10 in Christchurch and 15 in Wellington. Only 2 deaths (both Christchuach) occurred from typhoid fever. Postponemint. —Owing to the inclemency of the weather Mr T, O’Sullivan has postponed his auction sales until Saturday next. The tenders he called for, for carting timber have likewise had the tune for opening them extended to Wednesday. ' Railway. —Part of the railway embank'ment in the valley about Para and Koromiko has been washed away and railway communication will consequently be suspended for a, few daya.
