THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE earnestly invite the hearty co-operation of all heads of families and employers of labor in collecting subscriptions within their own circles in aid of the sufferers left destitute by the late colliery accident, who, as far as yet known, consist of twen-ty-four ■widows, eighty-eight children, and other dependent relatives. It is estimated that a sum of not less than LIO,OOO will be required to meet the exingencies of the case, And the Committee are convinced that by a hearty and united effort this can be accomplished. The Committee feel that all classes of the community are bound, by the common ties of humanity and Christian principle, to relieve and provide for these helpless ones. Subscriptions may be fowarded to his Worship the Mayor of Dunedin, chairman; Richard Oliver, h treasurer ; or to the honorary secretaries ; or they may be paid into any bank to the credit of the fund, in which case it is requested that the bank slip and a list of the subscribers be transmitted to the undersigned.
