MR. MURPHY'S CHALLENGE.
Sir, — I trust you will allow me space m your columns to remark upon a matter which if not of public interest, ought to be publicly carried out as it was sn begun. I refer to Mr John Murphy's Advertisement m your Satnrday's issue, which I can neither receive as an acceptance of my challenge, nor 'as a freah on? of his own.
Should Mr Murphy or any nf his backers be desirous of making a match with me, they can meet me at Penuey's Royal Hotel on Saturday night at eight o'clock sharp where the preliminaries can be arranged. I hereby declare myself ready and willing to run him for 450, five distances, within two months. Ho'pintr the matter will be soon and satisfactorily determined— l have &c.
