PROVINCIAL NEWS.

The following items of information are extracted from the Provincial Government Gazette, published on Thursday : —

A sale will take place on 27th April, of lands situate m Picton Suburban, Omaka, Pelorus Sound, and Kaikoura Suburban.

The resignation of Mr W. Jeffrey as M.P.C, for Picton has been received.

The following lands have been reserved from sale under Clause 56 of the Waste Lands Act : — Section 144 Penguin Bay, Pelorus Bay ; Sec. 145 Nydia Bay, Pelorus ; Sees. 38 and 171 Onamalutu Valley, North Bauk of Wairau.

A piece of land, containing 6a lr lOp, being part of Section 133, District of Omaka, has beeu conveyed to the Superintendent, and set apart for the purposes of a Public Cemetery.

Notice i 3 given of the intentio.n of the Superintendent at the next session of the Provincial Council, to introduce a Bill to authorise the compulsory taking of land for the purpose of making a road through the Langley Dale run, tbe plans, &c.., of the land proposed to be taken, may be seen at the Crown Lands Office, or at the house of Messrs Court and Venimore, Rock Ferry.

Applications for depasturing leases have been received from William Adams for a block of land estimated to extend over 4400 acres, m the North Bank of Wairau District, and bounded by Crown land, the North Bank Run, Hillereden Cattle Run, and the Oddstoneßun. Also from William Atkinson for 30,000 acres situated m the District of Clarence, bounded by the Kaikoura Range, Ottley Fells Run No 3, and by the rivers Gloucester .and Clarence to the boundary of the Province.

A depasturing license has been applied for by Thomas Gould, over 500 acres of land m the District of Pelorus Sound, bounded by the sea, Section No 145, Nydia Bay, and Crown land.

An auctioneer's license available to 30th June, 1875, has been issued to Mr Philip Law-
