Tuesday, 740 p.m. The Nomination for the representation of the Franklin district m the Assembly took place to-day. The candidates were Messrs Goodfellow, Woodward, May, Dargaville, and Troupe. The show of hands was m favour of Goodfellow. The Star's London correspondent states that the system of free past ages has resulted m the shipment of an inferior class of immigrants, and instances the passengers by the Doi'ette, which left on January 21st for Auckland with 340 immigrants. It states that with the exception of the single won>en, they are much below the average. The Auckland Shipping Company's Waikato, for the Auckland trade, has been launched. The MacGregor was taken to a safe anchorage m Galoa Bay. Sho has a bole 12 feet by 3 feet m one of the forward compartments, which is full of water, but is otherwise uninjured.
