THE PICTON WHARF.

Sir,— l wish to make a few enquiries and remarks through the columns of your valuable paper. I have been expecting to see some notice taken of the subject m our local paper, but none has yet appeared. 1. I wish to know who has got the management of the Provincial Public AVorks that are being executed here.

2. If the Executive is aware of the mode by which tenders are being called for public works. 3. If they have paid any person for inspecting such a miserable structure as that which gets the name of New Wharf, being builb without proper braces, and no wellings of any kind to keep it from swaying about worse than the old one. The floor, the only part that would have looked a little decent, has been spoiled by being half cut through, and tilled up again with white pine battens, and to finish off with, the wellmade iron stanchions are a credit to the designer and the blacksmith. — I am, &c, Quiz. Picton, March 17, 1573. [Wehave made some enquiries, the result of which may be briefly stated thus :— l. Mr Freeland ; 2. No, the Executive were not aware, but the subject had since been reported to them, and will doubtless be rectified ; 3. Yes. Perhaps our correspondent had better write a more explanatory letter direct to the Executive, which we are sure will meet with at least respectful attention. — Ed. M. E.]
