MR GORRIE’S SHARE LIST.

Sir —lt is not usual to find Sharebrokers quoting the value of interests in mining operations until they become public by registration. Partly for that reason, and knowing also the unsettled state of the present market, I have so far deemed it inadvisable to do so, and more especially as I considered it very difficult to judge the real value of any reef until the result of crushings are known. It is a matter for regret that Mr Gorrie in assuming this responsibility in the Express of last week did not more carefully inform himself With the exuberance of a novice he appears particularly anxious to give a roseate hue to the share market, and whatever immediate effect this may have; in the long rim, I doubt its wisdom.

To come to facts. Sutherland scrip he quotes “25s (20s paid) but none for sale.” How, Sir, a considerable quantity can be obtained at par, or even below. Shares have changed hands at 15s each within a few days, the last transaction registered being at 19s, which I take to be the present market value. ‘•Masonic only in the original hands. ” This is incorrect, more than one sale having taken place. “Homeward Bound firm at £20.” Shares are in the market at half that price. “Blenheim only in the

original hands.” Wrong again, some of the original shareholders having sold out, and the number of shares is doubled. “ Golden Crown £40,” is as much too low as the other quotations are the reverse—business had been done at £6O before Mr Gorrie’s notice, and since then £IOO has been offered and refused. Mr Gorrie will perhaps gain wisdom with experience as a shareholder, but this piece of advice I will give him, and that in the best possible spirit. If he wishes to gain the confidence of the public, he had better at once sell out all his shares in the various Companies afloat, so that no one can say he is interested. I beg herewith to enclose a list of quotations at what I have the best of reasons to believe correct prices—my object in so doing is sufficiently explained above.—l am, &c., C. J. W. Griffiths, Sharebroker. P.S. —I shall be obliged if you will insert this letter and list of prices also in the Telegram, as I consider the truth of the matter should be laid before the public as speedily as possible.
