HOLD-UP NEAR CHRISTCHURCH. ACCUSED BEFORE COURT. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. A motorist driving towards tho city on Saturday night with his wife observed a- man with a. shotgun holding up three other persons on tho road. Tho motorist was allowed to pass after a parley, and made a dash for Addington police station, where lie pick’d up Sergeant Stewart and a constable. When the party arrived at the scene ■tho hold-up was still, in progress. The constable , presented an automatic revolver at the man tvith the gun. and ■Sergeant Stewart dashed in and grappled with him. A terrific struggle ensued, hub (he man was finally overpowered and' handcuffed. His name' is Albert Edward Nicnoi, agel 40 years. He was charged at the .Magistrate’s Court this morning with point'ug a loaded shotgun at William 11ami with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and was remanded.
