HARD FIGHTING NEAR LENS. BRITISH ADVANCE POSTS DRIVEN BACK SLIGHTLY. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Renter.) Received .July 4, ft.4o a.m. LONDON, July 3. Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig reports : As a result of hard fighting westward of Lens our advance posts were driven back slightly. There is considerable reciprocal artillery fire at numerous points.
