RED CROSS SOCIETY. - < CONCERT AT KNAPDALE. The Knapdale Public Hall waS crowded on xuuaay last, to hear the concert promoted by the telegraph linesmen in aid of tne local brancti of the Red Cross lumd. The night was line and tlie 'hall oea'ufcifully uecorated. Tne chair man in his opening remarks referred t>o tne cause for which xhe concert was being held. Every district around Gore and ail over New Zealand (and out of it too) was always ready to assist the Red Cross. Knapdale would, continue to, do its' sJiare. Duggan (chairman) referred to the spirit which prompted the success of tlie social, and Mr Reid (Knapdale) proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the performers in his usual cheery way. Hodge, of Gore, who supplied the music. Also Miss Jessie Trusler for accompanying the performers. Mr""W. Millar, made a very efficient master of ceremonies, assisted by Mr Ferguson. Many thanks are also due to the local ladies for supplying refreshments. Our correspondent is informed by the secretary, Mr J. Gordon, that the total takings for the concert and dance amounted to £9, and the local Red Cross Society will benefit to the amount of about £O.
