The question was whether the will of the late Helen Cockbum, of Mataura, W*as made while the ■ testatrix was fit to execute it. The case afterwards occupied the attention of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, and .took, the form of- a, rule nisi addressed to the 1 caveator, to show cause vvliv probate should not be granted.' The ’ judge held .that applicants had to; prove that the instrument propounded was the will of a free and capable, testator, and the order nisi must be discharged. SENSATIONAL SHOOTING AFFAIR. (Per United Press Association.) i ■ HAMILTON, April 10. A sensational shooting affair is reported from Tc Awaiputu. _ It appears that about 7 o’clock last night ad mail vras seen prowling around the/Waikaria Prison by a. native prisoner. The latter approached the man, who threatened him with two revolvers if he approached any nearer.' -He informed the native that he was not a,fter him, but was after one of the warders. The native then informed the warders, after which he again came-out; in search or the man, who, it is alleged, fired at him l with a revolver aiid disappeared into -the scrub and .darkness. '.Search, was made by the- warders, but so fai without success. The police are now scouring the district for the man, who is believed to be an ex-prisoner.
