Notice of ap]x>al was given. It was stated thai Hawkins had been chaflVd about Irs moustache, which he wore in the style adopted by the Kaiser, and. that he was known as "von ■Hawkins." For Hawkins it wa-s urged that he wa s periV'tly loyal ; there was no Gorman blood in his family. He, came of an old Devonshire family and was a descendant, of the great Admiral Sir John Hawkins.
