Garble, of Folkestone, sneaking" before the'-Bap-tist Union of Great Britain and Ireland at-the Bloomsbury Central Chapel, London, summed up impressions gathered at the front. Lev. E. L. Watson, an Army chaplain, said that during the bombardment. of Xeuve Chapelle several men were seen to he crying. When asked why, they said that during the lulls of the bombardment the birds could be heard* singing. Over one trench hung a tree, and on a- bough were two bird,*, preening their feathers and twittering.
